When God writes His love on your heart…

I have always wanted a small tattoo, either the face of Jesus or the name of Jesus on my arm, but being “pain averse” I never took the plunge to get it. I sometimes see people with the name of the person they love tattooed on their arm. Hopefully those relationships last or they will have the wrong name tattooed on their body.

In the Scriptures God speaks of writing His love on our hearts:

“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Jeremiah 31:33

Do you feel Jesus has written His name and His love and His law on your heart?

I feel God has written His name on my heart. I know I belong to Him. I want to live for Him and with Him and this circumcision of the heart has not been without pain. The pain that I am speaking of is the pain of realizing you have betrayed the one who loves you the most.

That’s what true contrition is all about, feeling truly sorry for having sinned.

Everyday at 3pm, I remember Jesus dying on the Cross for our salvation; 3pm is the time Jesus died for us on the Cross and at this time I take a walk with Our Lord to the place of His crucifixion.  The walk begins as the Last Supper ends. Jesus descends into the Garden of Gethsemane and I hear Him call out in anguish. “…he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 The humanity of Our Lord cried out for consolation, yet the Divinity of Our Lord accepted His mission to die for our salvation.

My meditation continues as Jesus is brought before Pilate. A criminal, Barabbas, is released while Our Holy Lord is convicted. Jesus is scourged and tortured in the most brutal and inhumane way; He bears it all to prove His love for us. Jesus suffers so much to open the gates of Paradise to us, yet how many days, weeks, months and years go by as He waits for His people to love Him as deserves to be loved.

I walk with Jesus each day to the place of His crucifixion. I see Our Holy Lord struggling to carry a heavy Cross up the hill to Calvary, falling under its extreme weight. Jesus falls and the crowds mock Him. “But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.” Psalm 22:6 Jesus is so worthy of our love yet how many people even today will mock Him and reject Him. Jesus “was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.” Isaiah 53:3

I see Our Holy Lord lying down on His Cross and being nailed to this instrument of torture that will become the sign of our salvation. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 Stop right now and imagine if only for a few moments how much Jesus must have suffered to be nailed to a Cross for us!

Everyday Jesus penetrates my heart with His infinite love. As I meditate on His Passion I repent anew of my sins, I grieve the times I have offended Our merciful, loving Saviour and my heart hurts as I think about how long I kept Him waiting. I ask Jesus for the grace to give Him glory.  I ask Him to be close to me helping me to do whatever He desires.

Maybe in truth I don’t need the tattoo of Jesus after all. The tattoo would be an outward sign that I am His, but I know in my heart that there is no one and nothing I desire more than the love of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, True God and True Man.

I love You Jesus! You are my heart’s desire!

Friends, I encourage you to stop everyday at 3pm (in your local time zone) to meditate for a few minutes (or longer if you can) on the Passion of Our Lord Jesus. Three o’clock is the time Jesus died for our salvation on the Cross. Pray, if but for a few moments at 3pm, in honour of Our God who came from heaven to pay the price of our sins. Pray for His mercy upon all souls.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to come into the hearts of all people so that we can all become followers of Jesus.  Join A Peaceful Revolution in the Name of Jesus Christ that is uniting Christians all over the world at 3pm, the Time Jesus Died for Us.  Imagine the power of the Christian world united in prayer and in contemplation of the Passion of Christ at the Hour of Mercy, the Time Jesus gave up His life for us on the Cross. Imagine the Glory to God!

So many people are suffering in our world.  There are so many victims of violence!  Our prayers are more urgent than ever!  Read about the suffering of the child refugees in refugee camps alone, without loved ones!  Many of these children have been targeted by evil.  Read more about this tragedy here.

May You be forever honoured Jesus! I pray that this very day many, many souls will declare how much they love You!  I pray that prodigal children will come home and repent of their sins. I will love You today, tomorrow and forever and ever! Thank You for loving us so much that You would suffer such humiliation, such agony, such pain for our redemption.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.  You are my friends if you do what I command.”  John 15: 12-13
