Win-Win
Every good mediator attempts to resolve conflict by helping opposing sides to come up with a ‘win-win’ agreement. Negotiations fail when agreements appear to result in a ‘win-lose’ scenario, and sometimes in spite of good intentions, a failure to agree results in a ‘lose-lose’ situation where no one gets what they want and everyone suffers.
Jesus is the ‘divine mediator’ between God and Man who established a sacred contract between God and humanity called the ‘New Covenant’. But before we can understand the ‘New Covenant’ we need to understand that God established a prior ‘covenant or agreement’ through Moses referred to as the ‘Old Covenant’. In this covenant God gave Moses (His mediator) The Ten Commandments, the Law, which mankind was to honour. God promised to bless those that kept His Law and punish those that did not. Unfortunately, this covenant did not lead to obedience to God’s Will so God in His infinite love for humanity sent His only Son Jesus to establish a ‘new covenant’ with mankind.
“For this reason, Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrew 9:15
The ‘New Covenant’ is a promise of forgiveness and ‘new life’ to those that will believe in Jesus, repent and turn away from sin. It is the way to heaven for those that will receive God’s forgiveness and blessing.
The New Covenant allows for two important things to occur:
- God washes away the sins of His people through the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ
- God gives His people a new heart and a new Spirit so that they can love as He loves and be obedient to Him.
God revealed the promise of the ‘New Covenant’ long before Jesus was born.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel 36: 25-27
Jesus promises to give us all that we need enabling a ‘win-win’ scenario. God wins and humanity wins!
How?
If humanity repents of sin, turns away from it, God will offer purification through the blood of Jesus and a ‘new life and new heart’ filled by the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to seek God’s holy will and fulfill the plans He has for us.
Sounds perfect?
So what’s wrong with the world?
God’s blessing requires that we honour Him by believing in Him, repenting and turning away sin. We are instructed to “Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” 1 Peter 3:11
Our world needs God’s mercy! Our world needs the balm of His Divine Healing! Our world needs God’s Divine Intervention to bring people to faith, to repentance and to a new life in Christ!
It is with great sorrow that I continue to hear about hatred, anger, violence, vengeance and war in our world. Violence continues to escalate and the price to humanity soars!
This is not God’s Holy Way or God’s Holy Will.
To restore our world to a state of grace, we need God’s divine intervention. Now if you are not living in a conflict zone the pain of war might seem quite incomprehensible, but God calls all of us to have compassion on the suffering and pray for them like they are our very own family, for we are all God creatures and God is calling us all to be ‘brothers and sisters’.
The threat of ongoing violence and hatred, vengeance, war and even the use of nuclear weapons requires that we as people of God take our responsibility as people of faith seriously. We cannot sit by watching, we must take action by praying for a divine resolution to the many problems we face.
I invite you to do something simple with the infinite promise of God’s healing touch and divine intervention.
I invite you to join The Mercy Movement! The Mercy Movement is a global call for God’s mercy upon our suffering, sinful world. It is a call to all believers of Christ to come together daily at The Time Jesus died for us, 3pm (in any time zone) to pray for the mercy of Our Lord Jesus. At this time let us bring all our needs to Our Saviour Jesus and ask Him to send forth His Holy Spirit to silence the power of evil in our world, to bring souls to faith and repentance and to enable us to honour Him as He so deserves to be honoured. Stop daily at the Hour of Mercy, the Time Jesus died for us, to remember how much Jesus suffered to establish the New Covenant in His Blood, a promise to redeem us and to bless us, a promise to give us a ‘new life’ and a ‘new heart’. That is what we need to pray for: ‘the new heart’ cleansed by the blood of Jesus and filled with His Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Holy One that can change our world for the better! Jesus, Our Lord, Our Saviour, Our God can bring forth a ‘peaceful revolution’ on earth enabling us to become holy people, people committed to His love, His mercy and His Justice. Please join in, for this is the way to a ‘win-win’ scenario for God and all His people!
