The Miracle
There is a miracle of love occurring all over the world and this miracle has the power to change hearts, minds and lives.
What is this miracle?
It is the miracle of Jesus Christ coming to us in each Mass in The Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, The Eucharist.
If we could see with angelic eyes what a mystery would unfold before our eyes! The light of the world, Jesus Christ, is coming to us in a miraculous transformation of ordinary bread and wine, enabling us to feed on His Sacred Body and Blood.
This miracle requires faith for in most cases there is no visible sign to us that something extraordinary has occurred, but there have instances where the Eucharistic miracle was not only experienced through the senses but it was also proven through scientific evaluations. But before I delve a bit more into this proof, let’s recall the Words of Our Lord Jesus.
Jesus at The Lord’s Supper
“While they were eating, He took some bread, and after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is My body.” And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many.” Mark 14: 22-24
Jesus said, “For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” John 6:55-58
After Jesus ascended into Heaven, St. Paul urged people to receive the Body of Christ reverently. “For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” 1 Corinthians 11:29
In a private revelation, Jesus revealed to St. Faustina his sadness that He is not loved in The Holy Eucharist. “When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion,” He said, “My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul. But souls do not even pay attention to Me; they leave Me to Myself and busy themselves with other things. … They treat Me as a dead object” (Diary of St. Faustina, 1385)
There was a time when I was not going to Church. I was ignorant of the miracle that was occurring at every Mass. But when I came to understand that Jesus was truly present to us in The Blessed Sacrament through a divine miracle of love I became a faithful believer never missing an opportunity to unite my soul to Jesus.
There have been many miracles in history where The Eucharist has been visibly transformed and subsequently analyzed scientifically. One such occurrence was in the year 750. A Basilian monk who was struggling with doubts about the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist was celebrating Mass in the Church of Saints Legonziano and Domiziano in Italy. Upon reciting the words of consecration, he observed the bread and wine turn into physical flesh and blood. This was visible to everyone in attendance. Many years later in 1970 there was an analysis done on the relics from this miracle which remained intact and the analysis proved that the flesh consisted of muscular tissue of the myocardium (heart) and the blood was truly blood (Type AB, the same type as found on the Shroud of Turin).
This Eucharistic miracle is not a single isolated event. If you want to learn about more Eucharistic Miracles see miracolieucaristici.org that describes the miracles that have occurred by country all over the world.
Jesus declared to us: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”John 6:51
We can witness through the eyes of faith a miracle of infinite proportions every time we attend Mass and if we approach the altar believing truly that Jesus is present to us in The Holy Eucharist we will be changed.
Jesus said , “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day.” John 6:54-55
Jesus is waiting for each and every soul in the Sacrament of Love, truly present, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity.
Let us approach Jesus with great joy, reverence, awe and thanksgiving in each Mass. How privileged are we to receive Him in this Holy Communion!
And as we approach the Altar ready to say “Amen” affirming our belief that Jesus is truly present in this miracle let us remember how much He suffered to give us this great gift.
Please join me and Christians all over the world that are uniting daily @ The Hour of Mercy, The Time Jesus died for us, 3pm, to say thank you Jesus for loving us so much that You would die to open the gates of heaven to us. Let us pray for Jesus to send us His Holy Spirit to silence the power of evil one in our world so intent on violence, war, death and sin. Let us pray for God’s infinite mercy upon all souls every day at this time, believing that God will answer our prayers.
Jesus we love You! And we believe that You are truly present in the Miracle of Love called The Eucharist.
