The Dream Wedding

If you are planning your dream wedding, you are likely deep into the details. What to wear? Who to invite? What type of party do you want? Should you hire a wedding planner? What venue would be best? What about music, flowers, food? Will you get married in a Church?

Where does God fit in?  What part of the dream wedding does God alone fulfill?

A TIP:  Don’t let God be just one of the many details! Let Jesus be the reason you are getting married!

Unfortunately in today’s society divorce rates are soaring. With one out of every two marriages ending in disappointment and divorce court, we have to wonder why? Perhaps it’s because these marriages were not entrusted to Jesus.

Trust in Jesus! Trust in Jesus to help you find the person that will be your partner in life, the one who will console you, comfort you and help you to realize your potential as a child of God.

Once Jesus has helped you to find the one you will love, ask Jesus to help you to plan your special day. Pray for His guidance and don’t sweat the non-spiritual details too much. The menu of what you will eat at the reception is not what will make the day memorable. Neither will the flowers, dress or venue be the most memorable part.  The most important thing is God’s blessing!

I am Catholic and what I love about the Wedding ceremony in the Catholic Church is that God’s blessing includes coming to His table where we are spiritual nourished to receive His Body & Blood. Jesus says, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.” John 6:54-56

Holy Matrimony is a communion between a man, a woman and God. The spiritual ceremony is the heart of the Wedding. The spiritual food received in the spiritual celebration is the food for eternal life and as such it is much more important than the food at the reception.

Jesus tells us “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 In Marriage the man and woman become one united to Jesus who will sustain them through every challenge. The love of Jesus will nourish the relationship as the vine feeds each of the branches.

Put your wedding plans in the capable hands of Jesus and He will help you plan the big day, blessing your love and your new life together.

Let us pray today for couples that are planning to marry. May they be guided by Our Holy Lord to marry the one Jesus would pick for them and may God’s blessing on the couple in love be at the heart of the celebration!
