Prepare the Way for the Lord

Let’s embark on a spiritual journey with Jesus…

Come back to Him with all your heart and be forgiven

Jesus knows we are not perfect and that we don’t always make the right choices. Jesus will forgive us; we just need to be sorry for our sins and be ready to let Him change our lives. One day when I was wondering what can I possibly give God, I found this Scripture. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17 I realized that I had something to give God, for I was truly sorry for my sins and I wanted to begin anew with Him. I realized that He was welcoming me back to Him and that my broken and contrite heart was the first step in commencing a journey where I would through His grace strive to keep rejecting sin and embracing love…However knowing that I am not perfect, Jesus offers the Sacrament of Confession so that I can keep receiving His grace and forgiveness. Jesus will bless us and cleanse our souls in the Sacrament of Confession.  Jesus said to St. Faustina, “Every time you go to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of My grace upon your soul.  When you approach the confessional, know this, that I Myself am waiting for you.  I am only hidden by the priest, but I myself act in your soul.”  (Diary of St. Faustina 1602)

Renew your trust in Jesus and believe in His mercy

Maybe you’ve always known that God had a plan for you and that He wanted to work through you. Truly, it was quite a surprise when I learned this at age 40. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 I realized how much time I had wasted going through life making selfish plans, so I resolved to give myself to Jesus and say the prayer “Thy will be done” with great passion…you know like I really meant it!

Our consent to God’s will and our trust in Jesus is the foundation of our relationship with Our Saviour.  Jesus said, “Let souls who are striving for perfection particularly adore My mercy, because the abundance of graces which I grant them flows from My mercy.  I desire that these souls distinguish themselves by boundless trust in My mercy.  I myself will attend to the sanctification of such souls…the more a soul trusts, the more it will receive.”  (Diary of St. Faustina 1578)

Be one with God – Receive Him in Holy Communion

I went many years without receiving the Holy Eucharist…why? …because I didn’t understand that Jesus was truly present in this miracle. I didn’t know God had a plan for me and that I would need His grace so He could fulfill His plan…All of this was a great revelation me. And while you may know this, don’t assume your friends do. So consider sharing this post.

Jesus wants  to strengthen you so you can be all that He wants you to be.  Jesus said, “Consider My love in the Blessed Sacrament.  Here I am entirely yours, soul, body and divinity…When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, My hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give a soul.” (Diary of St. Faustina 1770, 1385)  Receive Our Lord’s blessings through the Holy Eucharist.  Jesus will transform you if you let Him.

Imitate Jesus; be kind and merciful

Jesus said, “ A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34

To St. Faustina, Jesus explained “If you knew what great merit and reward is earned by one act of pure love for Me, you would die of joy.  I am saying this that you may constantly unite yourself with Me through love, for this is the goal of the life of a soul.  This act is an act of the will.  Know that a pure soul is humble.  When you lower and empty yourself before My majesty, I then pursue you with My graces and make use of My omnipotence to exalt you.”  (Diary of St. Faustina 576)

Don’t be afraid to volunteer your time for good causes. Jesus has brought me to many different charities that were serving in the world. Once He brought me to a place where I met many homeless youth. One young man asked me “Do you do drugs?” I said, “No, I don’t”. He said, “I have never met a chick that didn’t do drugs!” I grieved as he told me that on the weekends he sometimes got together with his mother and that they took drugs together. I realized Jesus was teaching me “Don’t judge, just love.” Holy Lord, I know you remember him, please help him and other young people who so desperately need your help!

Pray, Contemplate Our Lord’s Passion and Remember Him at 3 o’clock

No relationship can thrive without communication.  Prayer is your conversation with God.  Jesus desires a serious, intimate relationship with you, not a casual one.  We can do God’s will out of duty, or we can do God’s will out of love and desire.

Contemplate the Passion of Our Lord Jesus and you will understand how much Jesus loves you. Jesus said, “I desire that you know more profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for souls, and you will understand this when you meditate on My Passion.”  (Diary of St. Faustina 186) Every day I do this. I meditate on our Lord’s Passion as I pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and as I approach the place of Christ’s crucifixion I grieve my sins and I thank Jesus for loving all souls so much. My relationship with Him becomes deeply personal as I confide in Him and resolve to love Him and serve Him. How much He suffered to prepare a place for us. Will you remember Him every day at 3 pm, the time He died?  Will you stand at the foot of the Cross and express your love to Him?

Keep Getting to Know God through the Holy Scriptures

As we begin to know God, we discover how to please Him as He prepares our hearts for Him and gives us the words of eternal life. Feed on God’s Word and you will understand the patience, the love and the mercy God has for His people.  Invest time with Jesus as you would your best friend and you will discover He is your best friend!  Walk through the Bible with Jesus and learn the lessons of God’s love and wisdom. “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5

Let Blessed Mary, Mother of God, and your Mother in Heaven, help you to grow closer to her Son Jesus

A great way to discover the Holy Scriptures while asking Our Blessed Mother to help us is to pray the Holy Rosary. The Rosary is the prayer that Our Mother of Mercy urges us to pray.  Meditate on the Biblical mysteries of the Holy Rosary and discover their meaning in your life.  St. Faustina wrote, “Mary is my instructress, who is ever teaching me how to live for God.  My spirit brightens up in Your gentleness and Your humility, O Mary ” (Diary of St. Faustina 620)

May God open your heart to Him so that He can fulfill His plan through You.
