Experiencing Unstoppable Love

The love of Jesus Christ is unstoppable! Experiencing His divine mercy and His infinite love is the ultimate fulfillment of the soul.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:16

As sensual beings we want to ‘feel love’ but entering into the unstoppable love of God does not begin with a ‘feeling’ but rather with a ‘commitment’ to try to get to know Him and enter into His divine essence.

“Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:17

If you do not have faith, then perhaps it is because you have not heard the Message of Jesus Christ as spoken in the Word of God.

Experiencing the unstoppable love of God requires trusting Jesus, opening our hearts to the power of His Holy Spirit to build us up.

“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” Jude 1:20-21

To experience the unstoppable love of God we must be ‘born again’.

“Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 3:3

“Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” John 3:6

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God’s unstoppable love enters our hearts, helping us to be reborn as ‘spiritual beings’ that desire the things of God.

To begin this process of spiritual transformation we need to create room for Jesus to work by acknowledging our sins and asking for His pardon and help.

If we offend God and are not sorry for offending Him there is no room for spiritual transformation. The soul’s lack of contrition closes the door to God’s Holy Spirit and to the divine mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember always God never rejects a heart that desires His forgiveness. God’s forgiveness is the beginning of our experience of His divine unstoppable love. Jesus saves us from our sins if we want to be saved.

There is only one thing stopping God from changing our lives and that one thing is us!

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:19

Forgiveness and purification of our lives are two important gifts proving God’s unstoppable love.

Forgiveness is the gift purchased for us by the sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus gave His life to save us.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Purification of our lives is a life-long process enabled by God’s love and power that detaches us from the sins that offend Him. Purification requires ‘spiritual discernment’ which allows us to see our lives the way God sees our lives.

Let us pray for the Holy Spirit of God, God’s unstoppable love, to illumine our minds to know what He wills for us to do.

I encourage you to take some time to reflect on three questions that will help you discern some of what you need to do to give God glory.

The three questions are:

  1. What’s working in your life that is pleasing God and giving Him glory?
  2. What’s not working in your life that is offending God?
  3. What’s missing in your life that is preventing you from pleasing God more?

As you reflect consider the following:

  • Have you repented and confessed your sins
  • How active is your prayer life (i.e., do you only pray when you are in trouble or are you actively listening to God speak to your heart)
  • Do you trust Jesus completely and have you surrendered your life to Him
  • Do you thank Jesus daily for His blessings
  • Do you go to Church to worship God and be fed by Him in the Holy Eucharist
  • Are there things in your life (i.e., sins) that you know you need to eliminate (pornography, drugs, sex, drunkenness, gossip, slander, hatred, discrimination, corruption, greed etc.)
  • Are you generous to others by offering your time and money to needy causes
  • Does your charity begin at home
  • Do you witness to God by your words and example
  • Do you need to forgive others who have hurt you
  • Do you pray for your enemies
  • Do you read the Word of God to hear God speaking to your heart
  • Do you see God in the people around you
  • Do you frequently meditate on the Passion of Christ in gratitude for the sacrifice of Jesus

God’s unstoppable love for you will never stop building you up so long as you are open to it. Life can be difficult. All of us carry burdens that can make us feel alone and even desperate at times. In those moments remember the Words of Our Lord Jesus:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11: 28

Let us find rest in God’s unstoppable love, in His Divine Mercy for there are no limits to what is possible for God.

Never lose sight of the eternal promise of Jesus. Jesus has prepared a place for us in Paradise.

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:2-3

Thank you for Your unstoppable love Jesus!
