The mission of Jesus is to save all souls. Jesus died to pay the price of our sins and to open the gates of Paradise to us. Each disciple of Christ is called to participate in the mission of saving souls by proclaiming the gospel and helping others to commit their lives to the glory of God. The devil, Satan, will do everything possible to thwart our good efforts and prey on our vulnerabilities.

Beware of the devil especially in times of loneliness and/or boredom

The devil is no gentleman. He is cunning and ready to prey on your vulnerabilities. He will kick you when you are down and try to lure you into relationships and activities where you will be tempted to sin.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 5:8-11

“Standing firm in faith” is “LOVE IN ACTION”

The best way I know to stand firm in faith is to keep contemplating the Passion of Christ when you are tempted to take a path that may lead you away from Jesus. By thinking about how much Jesus suffered to save us we are reminded of the depth of His love and how much He endured to redeem us. If Jesus can endure so much for our salvation, what can we endure for Him?

Let us pray: Holy Lord help us to stand firm in our faith and grant us the gifts of wisdom and understanding so that we can resist temptation and remain close to You, Holy One, fulfilling whatever plans You have for us. May Your sorrowful Passion be always on our minds! You endured so much for us, Holy Lord, please grant us the courage and the right judgment to prove our love to You today and always.
