The night before Jesus died He celebrated a sacred meal with His apostles.

St. Paul told the people about what had happened: “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’” 1 Corinthians 11:24-25

For anyone wondering about whether Jesus is truly present in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, let us look at the Scriptures, at the very words of Our Lord Jesus.

“Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” John 6:53-58

The first apostles did just as Jesus had taught them. They “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Acts 2:42

St. Paul warned people to be reverent when receiving the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus: “For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” 1 Corinthians 11:29

The instructions of Jesus “do this in remembrance of me” are honoured every time a Mass is celebrated with love and reverence. As we recognize and adore the true presence of God given to us in the Sacrament of Love, the Eucharist, we give glory to God.

Jesus longs to fill our souls with graces and those graces are imparted to us in this Sacrament of Love where ordinary bread and wine become through the miracle of the Holy Spirit the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately some people come to Mass without understanding that at every Mass the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus is being commemorated. Without proper understanding and reverent reflection, the sacredness of the Mass can be lost.

Let us elevate our minds to remember how much Jesus suffered on the Cross to save us and then let us be like a bride approaching her divine bridegroom as we receive the Holy One, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Holy Eucharist.

Prior to receiving Jesus we say these words: “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say a word and my soul shall be healed.” We acknowledge in this moment that we are to become the ‘house of God’. Let us confess our sins and ask God to purify our hearts so that we may become a holy home for our God.

If we lose sight of the miracle of the Eucharist we may become lost in details that are not vital to our sacred experience. For example, some may say ‘I didn’t like the priest’s homily’ or ‘I didn’t like the music’ or ‘I am bored during the Mass’. It is possible to be distracted by many things, but if we understand what is truly happening in the Mass we will participate not just out of ‘tradition’, we will participate in this divine banquet out of holy desire and with love!

For many years I didn’t go to Mass because I didn’t understand what I was missing. I didn’t realize that God was waiting for me. I didn’t realize I was missing the miracle of Our Lord Jesus giving Himself to us in the Sacrament of Love. I didn’t own a Bible. I was not studying the Scriptures and I didn’t realize God wanted me to become His disciple.

I have now come home! I have been teaching people about the Mass for over a decade now because I am so excited to be able to receive God in my soul through the miracle of the Eucharist. I understand why the saints were so excited about Holy Communion and I understand why St. Paul cautioned people to receive the Sacrament with reverence and understanding.

“What wonderful majesty! What stupendous condescension! O sublime humility! That the Lord of the whole universe, God and the Son of God, should humble Himself like this under the form of a little bread, for our salvation” St. Francis of Assisi

“Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you – for you alone? He burns with the desire to come into your heart…don’t listen to the demon, laugh at him, and go without fear to receive the Jesus of peace and love…” St. Therese of Lisieux

“I adore You, Lord and Creator, hidden in the Most Blessed Sacrament.” St. Faustina

When the priest or the Eucharistic Minister gives us the Body of Our Lord Jesus we are to say “Amen!” which means “Truly!” and “I believe!”. How privileged are we to commune with God in this way!

Don’t go to Mass for the priest’s homily or the music or to visit with friends. Go to Mass for the Eucharist and for the opportunity to pray, to give thanks and to praise God as One Body of Christ. Let us also take responsibility to study the Scriptures at home so that we understand God’s Word.

Many people start their day by reading the Bible. In this way we enter into the holy presence of God, reflecting on God’s will and God’s way. “I will meditate on Your precepts and regard Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.” Psalm 119:15-16

Let us also meditate daily on the Passion of Christ so that we can bring a memory of His sufferings with us as we approach His table. Let us see Him on the Cross at each Mass suffering for our salvation so that we can truly appreciate the greatness of Our God dying to redeem us and open the gates of paradise to us.

I am now promoting a new Christian tradition that will give Christians of all denominations the opportunity to unite in prayer all over the world in a solemn, sacred moment of remembrance of the Passion of Christ daily at the time Jesus died for us, 3pm. I am encouraging all Christians to stop daily at 3pm (in their local time zones) to remember Jesus dying on the Cross for us as we pray for the mercy of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ upon all souls. Three o’clock is the time Our Lord Jesus died for us and what better way to memorialize the time of Our Lord’s death than to stop and pray at the Sacred Time 3pm as we contemplate His Passion (if but for a few sacred moments)?

This global prayer movement is a peace movement and it is called “A Peaceful Revolution in the Name of Jesus Christ” because the daily tradition of immersing one self in the Passion of Christ while praying for the salvation of all, renews the soul and revolutionizes one’s life by opening up a portent of grace to be able to see into the eternal horizon. This life’s sorrows will one day pass away, but the glory of God will never pass away. His light, His love, His tender and enduring consolation will go on forever! One day “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Will you put a reminder in your calendar to stop and pray if but for a few moments at 3 pm in your local time zone?

Jesus said to St. Faustina, “I desire that you know more profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for souls and you will understand this when you meditate upon My Passion. Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation…There are few souls who contemplate My Passion with true feeling; I give great graces to souls who meditate devoutly on My Passion.” Diary of St. Faustina

Consider the power of Christians, of all denominations, united in the love of Jesus praying for the salvation of all, as we contemplate the Passion of Christ!

Glory to YOU Almighty God! We believe in YOU, We adore YOU, We hope in YOU and we LOVE YOU! We beg your forgiveness for those that do not believe, do not adore, do not hope in You and do not love You.

Jesus I trust in YOU! Thank You for Your love! Your love is AMAZING!  I will never stop coming to your Banquet of Love Jesus where I am so privileged to receive You, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity! You are my heart’s desire Holy Lord! Save all souls Jesus!  For You all things are possible!
