I invite you to join me in a special prayer for our government leaders that God may give them the faith, the knowledge, the understanding, the wisdom and the courage to do His Holy Will.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timonthy 2:1-4

There is too much conflict in our world with insufficient effort on mutually beneficial solutions.  In so far as one country pursues self-interests that seriously disadvantage others, are those solutions the best in the long term or even the medium term?  May God show them a better way where both can succeed!

If we could see into the eternal horizon and see our ultimate destiny in heaven, all decisions would be made with God’s Holy Will in mind.  There would be less fighting between countries and more effort on finding cooperative, ‘win-win’ solutions that protect the wellbeing, the safety and the prosperity of all.

Let us pray,

“Holy God, we come to You today asking for a special grace for all people in positions of government authority.  Bless them with faith, with knowledge, with understanding, with wisdom, with compassion, with creativity and with love.  Help them to find new solutions to the many problems we face, sowing the seeds of peace and helping to lift people out of poverty.  Guide them do Your Holy Will, resolving disputes and finding ways where we can live in peace, creating new opportunities for a better life for all our people.  We know that You care for us and want to help us.  Please intervene and give us leaders that will honour You and do Your Holy Will.  In Your Name Jesus we pray.  Amen”
