True Faith
True faith is believing in, hoping in, trusting in and loving Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
“That is why we labour and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Saviour of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10
Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
True faith believes in the truth that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of all people. Jesus opens the gates of Paradise to us through His atoning sacrifice.
Faith is a relationship with God and God’s Only Son Jesus Christ where we surrender our lives to Him, trusting in His saving grace and continuous presence through the power of His Holy Spirit.
Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
In using this figurative speech Jesus is telling us about the kind of relationship He wants to have with us. Jesus is looking for an intimate relationship whereby we are always united to Him, allowing Him to work through us. He calls us to communicate with Him in prayer, learn His Holy Word as spoken in the Scriptures, and listen to Him speaking to our conscience as He guides us to do His Holy Will.
God’s way and the world’s way are often in conflict with one another. God is pure but the world is full of impurity.
Pornography, sex clubs, prostitution, abortion, sexual promiscuity are signs of the impurity and immorality of our world. If we want to prove we have true faith in Jesus then we must reject all that is impure and immoral.
I like to think of ‘true faith’ as the root of a healthy tree. The root, symbolic of faith, is grounded in the holiness of Jesus Christ and it is nourished and sustained by the grace of God.
The root of the tree is strong because Jesus supplies all that is needed for the tree to grow and prosper. The root embraces Jesus and remains ever connected to Him in an intimacy that makes the root ONE with its Creator. The root of the tree sustains the entire tree just as our faith sustains us through God’s grace in difficult times.
The branches of the tree spread and rise up like arms extended in an open embrace of hopeful anticipation. The branches anticipate the blossoms that will open into leaves and fruit fulfilling the tree’s purpose.
Faith produces hope and faith that is alive and at work yields the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:22-24
When you fall in love with Jesus temptation in your life will cease!
When we are not in love, our eyes wander, but when we fall in love our eyes fall squarely on the ONE we love.
When we fall in love sacrifice becomes easy.
One of the mysteries I have learned is that denial leads to divine indulgence.
Let me explain.
Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” Matthew 16:24-25
Sixteen years ago I had a miraculous encounter with God. While praying I heard God speaking to my heart.
He asked me this question: “What is love?”
Being unevangelized I said, “Love is a feeling”
To this God said to my heart “Wrong”. So I asked “What is it then?”
And God said, “Love is a choice”
The rest of the conversation was without words and through the power of the Holy Spirit I understood God to be telling me that ‘love is the choice that honours Him’. I was making too many choices based on how I was feeling without trying to consider ‘what would God want me to do.’
That was the turning point in my life. After that I returned to Church, confessed my sins and bought my first Bible.
One of the things I began doing early after my conversion was contemplating the Passion of Christ. In my heart I would see Jesus lying down on the Cross and being crucified for me and you and all those that would believe in Him and I fell in love with Him! I pledged my life to Him and I ultimately left the business world to try to discern what Jesus wanted from me.
I gave my life to Jesus and in giving it up to Him I found my true purpose. After studying the Word of God for years I decided I would try to witness to my love of Jesus and help others to find Him by sharing short reflections on God’s Word, integrating my life experience and current events happening in our world.
Denial at first was difficult. I found myself embracing a silence that at first made me feel very lonely but ultimately I realized I was not alone. Jesus was with me teaching me His Will and His Way and every reflection I wrote flowed through me like ‘living water’. It was effortless because Jesus was working through me.
In silence I felt Jesus calling me to draw His followers together in remembrance of His Passion and so a peace movement was born called The Mercy Movement and in the last three years I have received over sixteen million positive responses from people all over the world saying they ‘like’ it!
Will you join us in a Spirit of True Faith?
We stop everyday at 3pm (in our local time zones) the time Jesus died for us, to remember His Passion and pray for all souls. I have been doing this daily for over a decade and I can tell you that remembering the Passion of Christ daily will change your life, as Jesus changes your heart. If 3pm locally is a difficult time for you to stop then pick another time zone that works for you and know that you are united with the Body of Christ that believes in and loves Jesus Christ. Join in and love Jesus with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind as you pray for peace in our world and the salvation of souls.
May your faith be like the root of the strongest tree. Let your faith be rooted in the unconditional love and grace of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. Trust Him unconditionally because He loves you so much!
