To Know Jesus is to Love Jesus!

When we get to know Jesus we begin to unravel sacred mysteries that enable us to discover our true identity and the very purpose of our life. Perhaps the greatest and most important thing we need to know is that Jesus is the living God, God incarnate, True God, True Man. “That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10

There is but ONE God and He exists in a ‘Triune Nature’ as God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are ever connected in a mystery that is difficult for our human minds to comprehend.

God willed to incarnate, to become man to fulfill a sacred mission, the mission of salvation. God gives His Only Son Jesus the Name that means ‘God saves’.

Jesus “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death– even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2: 6-11

Consider however that although God exalted Jesus, His One and Only Son, mankind despised and rejected Him as was prophesied by the Prophet Isaiah.

“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.” Isaiah 53:3

“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” Isaiah 53:7

God all-powerful, omnipotent, all-knowing, omniscient, humbles Himself as a servant and in the process is despised, rejected, oppressed, tortured and murdered to pay the price for our sins!

STOP! And think about it.

Jesus loves you so much that He would die to prepare a place for you in Paradise!

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

There are many things to know about Jesus, the Deity incarnate. Jesus proved He was divine by His many miracles on earth, but the greatest miracle of all was the one that Satan did not understand. It was the miracle of salvation consummated on the Cross at Calvary that resulted in a Resurrection of Life three days later.

To know Jesus, the Saviour of the World, is to love the Holy One, a divine, peaceful revolutionary who came into the world to cause a revolution of love! Jesus would enable the ancient prophecies to be fulfilled:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel 36: 26-27

If we want to bring about positive, sustainable change, be it at a personal level or a global level, we must strive to bring about a ‘change of heart’ because a change of heart always results in a ‘change of mind’.

Jesus came into the world to give us a new heart, filled by the Holy Spirit of God, redeemed and purified by the Blood of Jesus. This new heart born out of God’s love for us is at the heart of all the progress we are destined to create. This new heart will breathe God’s love in the world and continue God’s plan of salvation.

Jesus’ mission on earth is our mission on earth – to save souls, through the power of God’s love, through the power of God’s atoning sacrifice, through the life-infusing power of the Holy Spirit of God that spreads truth and love.

Jesus, Our Suffering Saviour, continues to suffer through His Body that is working to bring about the ‘peaceful revolution’ that brings souls to surrender and trust in His infinite love.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:6

All of us are called to something different. Jesus calls people in quiet ways. He continues to exemplify the same characteristics we read about in the Scriptures:

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he has brought justice through to victory. In his name the nations will put their hope.” Matthew 12: 19-21

When Jesus was on earth, He “often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”   Luke 5:16

Just as Jesus went off quietly into the wilderness to commune with His Father to pray in the Spirit so too must we make time to imitate Him in this way. We will not hear Jesus calling until we allow ourselves to become truly, truly quiet.

Three years ago I moved deep into the ‘wilderness’. In this country setting complete with a forest, a few bears, many wolves, coyotes, deer and other forms of wild life I have heard my Lord calling me gently and persistently to enter into His Heart. In this quiet surrender He speaks to my soul “You are Mine”.

I have never been so aware that I exist exclusively for God’s glory and for His Holy Will to be done. Many years ago I was trained as a professional communicator and marketer. My job was to define the ‘corporate value proposition’ and to train our sales people. How could I imagine that I would one day be working for Jesus and sharing the message about God’s plan of salvation!

God is mysterious. At first I resisted His call. Are there no saints available I wondered? What does God want with me a sinner?

Well God wanted the sinner to stop sinning. God wanted her to know He loved her. God wanted to repurpose her skills so she could promote something that would change people’s lives—the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I won’t lie to you sometimes I feel lonely in the wilderness and when I do God embraces me tighter. I have never been so aware of how God wills to take our hand and never let go. Sometimes I find myself praying ‘Don’t go Jesus. I’ll try harder.’ And I know He won’t leave me for He is faithful to never abandon the people He loves who are willing to give up their lives for His glory.

Every day I stop at the Time Jesus died for us, 3pm (in my local time zone) to remember the Passion of Christ. I have been doing this for over a decade daily and the mystery is this quiet prayer time always refreshes my soul. I take the sacred walk to Calvary as I remember how much Jesus suffered to save me, and all souls and I am humbled by the greatness of His love and every day I resolve to give Him ALL. Perhaps what I have to give is not really that much in the grand scheme of things, but I know that Jesus is happy when we give Him what we can, living perpetually in the strength of His infinite love, trusting in His wisdom and love.

Please join The Mercy Movement that stops DAILY (at the time Jesus died for us, 3pm locally) to remember the greatest sacrifice the world has ever known and will ever know, the Sacrifice of the Living God, Jesus Christ.

Join the Body of Christ that is uniting at the Hour of Mercy, 3pm, to give glory to God by thanking Jesus for dying for us and by praying for the Holy Spirit of God to touch souls to spark a ‘peaceful revolution’ enabling people to receive a new heart filled by God’s Holy Spirit so we can turn away from sin and seek peace, love and reconciliation with God and one another.

“Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” 1 Peter 3:11

Don’t discount the power of our united prayer! Put 3pm in your calendar and be with us – ONE BODY OF CHRIST UNITED IN PRAYER AND REMEMBRANCE OF THE PASSION OF CHRIST, FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.
