The Second Coming of Jesus Christ: UNDERSTAND, BE READY AND BE WISE!

The Lord does not wish anyone to be uninformed about His plan of salvation and the coming judgment. Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Saviour, will one day return and all people will be subject to His judgment.   We refer to the return of Our Lord as King as the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

“For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.” (Matthew 16:27)

UNDERSTAND:

SALVATION IS A GIFT FROM JESUS CHRIST

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.”  Ephesians 2:809

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.”  Acts 16:31

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” ”  John 3:16-17

OUR ETERNAL REWARD DEPENDS ON OUR LOVE

WE WILL BE JUDGED ON THE CHOICES WE MAKE TODAY AND OUR REWARD WILL DEPEND ON HOW GREAT WAS OUR LOVE FOR GOD AND FOR ONE ANOTHER.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he (Jesus) will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25: 31-46

When Jesus returns and establishes His reign, He will create peace and there will be no more war:

Isaiah 2:4 states, “He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.”

Along with world peace, there will be universal joy:

Isaiah 12:3-4 “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In that day you will say: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.’”

This was foretold to the prophet Jeremiah:

“Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” Jeremiah 23:5-6

BE READY:

REPENT, CONFESS YOUR SINS AND RECEIVE GOD’S FORGIVENESS.

God did not create human beings for eternal suffering. God created us because He loves us and wants us to enjoy the fruits of eternal life, so let us repent and be forgiven by the gracious Lord Jesus who wants so much to bring us to paradise.

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38

“If we confess our sins, he (Jesus) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”  Psalm 51:17

We are all sinners and we all need to be cleansed of the filth of our infidelity to God.

“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8

There is no sin God cannot forgive.  His mercy is endless!  “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18

But for those that do not repent there will be eternal suffering.  “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”  Revelation 21:8

BE WISE:

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” Psalm 111:10

Fear of the Lord is also referred to as REVERENCE.   We should have a deep respect for God who created all things and for His only Son Jesus Christ who died to cleanse us from our sins.

So let us be wise and strive to help one another.

I humble myself and suffer some embarrassment to tell you this personal story I will call “From Vanity to Charity”.   Many years ago, I noticed that my friend had a beautiful ‘french manicure’ (shiny clear nails with white tips). She whispered to me ‘my nails are not real; they are acrylic’. I thought to myself ‘they are beautiful’ and off I went to the salon to get an acrylic French manicure.

A few weeks passed and God showed me some orphan children (via an inspired TV show). This show was promoting child sponsorship that would enable the orphans to be fed and go to school. I remember bowing my head to pray and behold my eyes looked down on a perfect manicure that cost about the same amount as sponsoring a child.

I told God ‘I was sorry’. I had my priorities mixed up. I told God I would have my acrylic nails ripped off and I would sponsor a child. And so I did. In fact over the years that followed I sponsored more than one child. Time passed and I wrote to my sponsor child and he wrote back and years passed and we continued to write and not long ago he reached out to me to tell me that he found a job and I was thrilled! He was so grateful for my help and I was equally grateful to him for helping to open my heart and give glory to God.

One day my teenage daughter said to me: “Mom you have lost your sense of style! Look at your clothes. You are wearing two different colours of socks!” Ha, Ha! I hadn’t noticed! Who cares about my socks!

We won’t be judged by God on our sense of fashion, but we will be judged on our life style!

Please join me in a moment of deep reverence and gratitude DAILY as we stop to remember the Passion of Christ at the time Jesus died for us, 3pm, every day in our local time zones.

Jesus died an agonizing death by crucifixion to save us and give us the promise of eternal life. So please join Christians all over the world that are stopping to pray for the salvation of all souls as we stop to remember the Passion of Christ at the time Jesus died for us, every day at 3pm, each of us in our local time zones.

Imagine the potential of this simple act of REVERENCE– a Christian world united DAILY in prayer and remembrance of the Passion of Christ, at the Hour of Mercy, the time Jesus died for us, 3pm – THAT’S REVERENCE AND THAT’S GLORY TO GOD!

No human being knows when Jesus will return, and no one knows when the last day of our life will be, so let’s understand what God wants, let’s be ready to meet Jesus by being baptized and repenting of our sins and let’s strive to be wise by being a people of love and compassion.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Mark 13:32
