The Open Door to Heaven
In the Book of Revelation we read about an open door that God Himself has opened for us. It is the door to heaven.
” …These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” Revelation 3: 7-8
For all those who live to honour God and who are faithful to His commandments to love and forgive, God places an open door to an eternal future of peace and everlasting life.
For those who have sinned and failed to honour Him then the path to the open door requires REPENTANCE!
Jesus warns us “…unless you repent, you too will all perish.” Luke 13:3
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Every apostle of Jesus has consistently done one thing: preached repentance! “They went out and preached that people should repent.” Mark 6:12
Repentance is the way to restore our relationship with God.
I remember teaching a group of children about Jesus and a wise little girl of 9 years of age said to her peers: “You can run from God, but you cannot hide!”
Sometimes we hide from the truth. It can be easier to just keep lying to ourselves than to look hard at our lives and acknowledge our mistakes and change. Change requires the grace of God. Renewal and forgiveness is what Jesus does best, but we must be willing to remove the veil from our own eyes and look honestly at our lives asking ourselves is our life giving glory to God, or are we living to satisfy ourselves? Do we trust in God’s love to help us and heal us? Do we have the courage to say the words “I am sorry!” to those who we have hurt and to God who we have offended?
God has not prepared heaven only for the people with “little sins”. God has prepared heaven for all souls, but God expects that we will humble ourselves to acknowledge our sins and pray for His mercy and forgiveness so we can, with God’s grace, make the changes we need to make. God knows how to renew His people, but we must give Him the opportunity by humbling ourselves to acknowledge our failures.
REPENT AND BE RENEWED IN THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST! Tell the person you have hurt, “I am sorry!” and best of all be sorry by allowing Jesus to rebuild your life.
