Palm Sunday
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
“The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna! ”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the King of Israel!”
Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
see, your king is coming,
seated on a donkey’s colt.” John 12: 12-15
The crowds were adoring Jesus calling “hosanna” which means “save us”, but not even a week later the crowds were calling for Jesus to be crucified!
How deep is our love for Jesus? Are we guilty of having betrayed Him through our choices? Do we recognize Him in others? Do we trust in Him? Do we love Him enough to be patient and loving when others are insensitive and cruel? Do we love Him enough to endure suffering for His sake? Or do we only love Him when He showers us with blessings?
When was the last time we prayed for someone other than ourselves?
Jesus came into the world to save us; in fact the name of Jesus means “God saves.” Jesus asks us to be His disciples. How will people know we are His?
I love You Lord! Thank You for always being there for me and for Your great mercy. I too want to be merciful to others and I forgive all those who have hurt me. Help me to see You in everyone and to never stop praying for Your mercy, especially upon those who need it most. Live in me Lord! Work through me and let my life proclaim how much I love You! May Your sacrifice be ever on my mind. May Your wounds be upon my heart. I love You so much Jesus, my Saviour!
