Our Perpetual Source of Hope

The calendar has changed but for many of us our circumstances have not. As I write this, our schools have been closed along with restaurants, gyms, cinemas and other entertainment venues because of the ongoing pandemic. Vaccinations have reached the wide majority of people where I live, but still the pandemic rages on.

What to do?

I love the Bible because it is the source of Divine Wisdom and in it we find God’s promises.

God’s promise of healing is articulated in this passage.

God says:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

It is a sad reality that too often people only come to God in a crisis. When things appear ‘out of control’ people often realize that God’s help is needed. That is not the type of relationship that God desires. This is analogous to a relationship where the son or daughter only checks in with the father when trouble strikes.

God is Our Father. God is Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. God is the Holy Spirit of Love that brings hope, healing and revelation.

TRUST – Is the Relationship Ingredient God Desires from us!

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62:8

HOPE IN THE LORD!

“But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.” Psalm 33:18

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

AN INVITATION TO PRAY AS ONE BODY OF CHRIST

God’s promise of healing comes with a few conditions we must meet. One of those conditions is humility. We must acknowledge our profound need for God’s grace in our lives. God will show us the way if we choose to trust in Him and listen to His Spirit of Love guiding us to fulfill His Holy Will.

Prayer is our connection with God and you may recall how Jesus prayed for all His believers on the night before He died.

Jesus prayed this prayer to God, Our Father:

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.” John 17:21

You are invited to join followers of Jesus all over the world that are stopping to pray and remember the Passion of Christ, daily, at the Time Jesus died for us (3pm – in our local time zones, or 3pm in a global time zone that is convenient)

At this time we unite as One Body of Christ remembering how much Jesus suffered to save us. We unite to pray for the mercy of Our Lord Jesus upon our suffering world so desperately in need of both spiritual and physical healing. We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit to bring souls to repentance. Remember God’s promise of healing requires that we “turn from our wicked ways” and seek His forgiveness.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:14

I will tell you a personal secret that I have discovered after more than a decade of stopping daily at the Time Jesus died for us to pray and remember His Passion. Daily I take a spiritual walk to the place where Jesus was crucified (Calvary) and in this place I see Our Holy Lord be tortured and killed for our salvation. This daily remembrance never fails to humble me and strengthen my resolve to honour Jesus and live for His glory. This daily remembrance and time of prayer, united with Christians all over the world, connects me to Jesus and to all believers of Christ, in a love that will never fail. Let Jesus change your heart and your life. Remember how much Jesus loves you and all souls as you take a daily spiritual walk to the place of Christ’s crucifixion.

Learn more about the global prayer movement that is uniting the Christian world called The Mercy Movement here. This movement is a peace movement because it fills our hearts with the peace of God as we pray for God’s love to silence the power of the evil one and bring His peace on earth and end violence.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14
