Let there be peace on earth…
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” Luke 2:14
Peace begins with making our lives right with God. God waits for His children like the merciful father in the parable waited for His prodigal son to come home. God has prepared so much for us, an eternal inheritance of peace and joy for those who love him.
Let’s go home for Christmas, into the heavenly embrace of Our Lord and Saviour who gave up everything to prepare a place for us in paradise.
God wants to forgive us for our sins: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” Romans 5:1-2
God wants to forgive us and He also wants to free us from the pain and anger we may feel from injustice committed against us. We need God’s forgiveness and those who hurt us need our forgiveness. Forgiveness is freedom–freedom from the pain, anger and resentment we keep in our hearts when we do not forgive.
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14
Therefore…
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” Matthew 5:9
God is inviting you to be a peacemaker in the world.
How can we accomplish this?
Have you noticed that military intervention has not produced peace in the war torn parts of the world?
Friends of Jesus, only God can heal the wounds of division that exist in the world. Only the mercy of God paves the way for reconciliation.
Jesus said these words to St. Faustina: “Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to God’s mercy”
St. Peter said, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
God is the merciful father who is waiting for His children to come home to Him to rejoice in His infinite love. We His children must pray for our brothers and sisters who have yet to be reconciled to God.
Please join the Christian peace movement that is praying for the mercy of Our Saviour Jesus to heal the wounds of hatred that divide His people. We are all God’s children and He loves each and every one of us. God will answer our prayers for mercy and peace, if we go to Him with hearts that are contrite and reverent, full of hope and trust.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
So many people are suffering this very day. Many people have no home to go to this Christmas because they have left their home due to war and violence. Let us pray that they find comfort in the heart of God, our one true place of refuge. May God guide all refugees in safety to find new homes and new hope.
My Jesus, glorious God and Saviour of the world, as Christmas approaches I pray that your love may be born anew in our hearts so that we can be reconciled to you and to one another. Sow the seeds of peace in our hearts and help us to be the people you long for, people of love, people that are charitable and merciful, open to helping all people regardless of our race, ethnicity, gender and religious ideologies.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10
“I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism, but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” Acts 10:34-35
Hold the words of Our Lord in your heart and let His infinite love heal you:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
