Jesus, Divine Mercy
Divine Mercy is a name often used for Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is fully Divine and fully Man. His very name, Jesus, means “God Saves”. Jesus is the merciful Saviour who died for our sins. “…you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
God is Love and Mercy. God is Holy. God is Just. God is all-powerful, omnipotent. God is all-knowing, omniscient. God is always present, omnipresent.
Jesus is God incarnate. There is only One God. God is God-The-Father, God-The-Son (Jesus) and God-The-Holy-Spirit–One God in Three Persons.
If we fully understood the depths of God’s merciful love, we would never stop hoping in God’s willingness to help us rise beyond the challenges which we face today. God’s love never ends.
Jesus loves us so much and to honour Him He desires our trust in Him. He want us to come to Him with full trust in His willingness to save us and help us one-day-at-a-time.
“For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD.” Psalm 117:2
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1: 3-5
“There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.” James 2:13
“But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” Jude 1:20-21
Let us strive to show mercy to one another as we pray for all those who have hurt us. Let us forgive and ask God to forgive us.
We can live our lives selfishly focused on pleasing ourselves but God cautions us and teaches us that what we do now will affect our eternal future, so let’s be wise by turning to Our Lord Jesus, God’s Divine Mercy for forgiveness and guidance.
Jesus says, “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.” Revelation 22:12
“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.” Revelation 22:14-15
To ‘wash our robes’ means to ask Jesus to forgive us and cleanse us through the power of His Sacred Blood. Jesus did not die for the ‘moral and righteous’ but to purify the ‘immoral and the unrighteous’. So let us have great confidence in the mercy of Our Lord Jesus.
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
Jesus is waiting for us to come to Him and be cleansed by the power of His Love.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:9-10
Imagine if someone told us exactly what we had to do to win the big lottery that would make all our dreams come true. How unwise would we be to not listen?
There is nothing greater or more worth hoping for than eternal life. The wise man/woman prepares for this. “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12
Jesus paid the price of our sins, but so many people have yet to come to Him with faith for forgiveness. If you have faith then pray for all those who do not yet believe and have not yet understood that this life is a stepping stone to eternal life.
Let us unite daily at the Hour of Mercy, the Time Jesus died for us, 3pm, (in our local time zones or another time zone that is convenient for you to stop and pray). At this time let us thank Jesus, God’s Divine Mercy, for dying for us and for preparing a place in Heaven for us and let us with great confidence ask Jesus, Our Merciful Saviour, to send forth His Holy Spirit upon all souls to bring us to repentance and prepare us for Eternal Life. Remember for God all things are possible, so let us believe that God will hear us and He will answer our prayers for merciful change in our world so urgently in need of His great love and mercy!
