In Joyful Anticipation – A Christmas Prayer of Hope

“My soul, waits in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.” Psalm 62:5

Over 2,000 years ago the people were waiting for a Messiah, but when the Messiah Jesus Christ was born He was unrecognized.   The Angels of God announced to the Shepherds watching their flock of the news that the Messiah had come.

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2: 10-11

Today Jesus is still not recognized and loved by many people. Our Holy Lord continues to wait for people to believe in Him, to trust in Him and to love Him.

As disciples of Jesus it is our role to help people to believe and hope in the power of Our God to change our world as He transforms our hearts and our lives and gives people great faith and confidence in His love.

“But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Saviour; my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the problems you are facing today, remember the promise of God who urges you to lean on Him and trust in His willingness to help you.

This is the promise of God: “…I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Regardless of what we are suffering today, Our God promises to bring comfort and consolation, so let us worship Him.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4

Let us take a moment to remember that Jesus has prepared an eternal future for us of joy and peace. May that promise illumine your mind and comfort your heart and soul.  If only we could see what God had prepared for us, the challenges and troubles of this time would seem much smaller.  If people could see the eternal horizon people would repent and make their hearts ready for Jesus.

“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him–these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2: 9-10

Disciples of Jesus, Our God has the power to create peace in our lives, to bring healing and new solutions to our problems, let us have faith in His infinite power and endless love.  God is calling us to trust in Him and lean on Him.  Let us turn to Him with great confidence this Christmas season asking Him to help us with all our needs.

“Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30:18

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

If we have true faith then that faith must be shared in word and in deed. And one of the most important ways we can share our faith is by praying for the conversion of all souls and being forgiving and charitable to one another.

Our God is waiting for all souls to repent of their sins because repentance opens the door to God’s mercy and leads to a new beginning and a new life.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Let us anticipate this joyous reunion when the penitent prodigal child meets the merciful Father who welcomes His child home.

Let us be the prayer intercessors who are praying for every soul to come home to God for pardon and the grace to live a new life that gives glory to the Almighty God, Our Lord Jesus.

People without faith will never understand the power of a righteous soul summoning the omnipotence of God, but people with faith that have repented of their sins will NEVER underestimate the power of prayer by souls who are in God’s grace.

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12

If you can’t first dream of a new innovation, you will never create it. In a similar way, if you don’t truly believe in the power of God to change the world and create peace, then you may never pray for something so great and so awesome–reconciliation between God and mankind, an end to wars, healing and restoration!

God is great! God is awesome! God will answer our prayers!

“But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.” Psalm 33:18-22

Friends of Jesus do you remember the prayer Our Lord Jesus prayed on the night before He died?  This was the Lord’s prayer:

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,  that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” John 17: 20-23

Can you imagine the power of a Christian world united in prayer? Consider the power of Christians all over the world, united in prayer daily, calling upon the mercy of Our Lord, at the time Our Saviour died for us, 3pm (in our local time zones)?

Close your eyes and imagine it!

Can you see the Christian world stopping to pray for the mercy and grace of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, everyday at the Hour of Mercy, 3pm, as we remember His infinite sacrifice?

Can you imagine how our hearts and minds will be changed by contemplating the Passion of Christ everyday at the time Jesus died for us?

If you were most in need of God’s mercy, what would you want me to do for you?

Would you not want someone with faith to pray to God that you may also have faith?

That’s what I would want…and so that’s what I am doing!  And if 3pm locally is not a good time for you, then enter another time zone and let that be your Hour of Mercy, as you remember daily the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our Saviour and pray for the salvation of all souls.

Consider the power of many Christians united in faith all over the world in a daily prayer that God’s light and Holy Spirit penetrate our hearts, converting those most in need of conversion? Let us pray that God’s will be done.

Can you anticipate the joy of knowing that your prayers will help end violence, converting souls and reconciling them to God?

Can you imagine the joy of meeting a soul in heaven that thanks you for having prayed for them?

Can you imagine the glory we can give Our Crucified Saviour Jesus if we prayed as One Body of Christ everyday at the time He died for us as we remember the greatest love the world has ever known and will ever know, the Love of Our Saviour Jesus Christ!  Let us pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our sinful and suffering world.  God will hear us!

Let us believe and pray for a special Christmas blessing!
