EXPELLING EVIL FROM OUR WORLD

Know that the day will come when God will avenge every act of evil. “For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” Hebrews 10:30

For anyone contemplating an act of violence or evil these words should create the ultimate fear:

“It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31

So yes one day there will be judgment and no one will escape that destiny, but for now those of us who believe and wish to be true disciples of Jesus Christ must understand that we have a role to play in preventing acts of evil, terror and violence of all sorts.

Just as the military recruits its soldiers, God recruits His people to become ‘spiritual warriors’. A spiritual warrior understands that the ‘good fight’ is one aimed at stopping the demonic force on earth that possesses people to commit all sorts of violence and crime.

The very notion of a ‘spiritual warrior’ may conjure such a holy image of sainthood that you may simply bow your head declaring that you are unqualified, but let me encourage you that God wants to train you to fight the evil that preys on innocent people. Making the world safer is a cause that requires a commitment from every true believer!

God’s promise is this:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

There is a formula here based on the divine principal of RECIPROCITY, in other words there are mutual shared responsibilities. God will restore His people and offer forgiveness and healing IF we choose to do some important things. Let’s reflect carefully.

Firstly God wants HUMILITY.

What does it mean to be humble? Well it means we acknowledge that we don’t have the answers but we know God does.

Eighteen years ago I heard God calling me to a mission, a mission I didn’t understand. The response in my heart was ‘Are there no saints available?’

How many of us think the ‘big spiritual work’ of God belongs to somebody else?

All Baptized Christians are called to help Jesus save souls. All Baptized Christians are called to witness to His love and work with God to expel evil in our world.

God wants us to PRAY AND TO BELIEVE THAT HE WILL ANSWER US!

How many acts of evil are stopped every day by righteous people living honourable lives dedicated to God?

I don’t know the number…but I expect the answer is MANY, MANY!

God wants us to SEEK HIS FACE. God is asking us to enter into a SACRED RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. In this relationship we will humble ourselves and pray for His Grace. We will pray to Him for the wisdom and guidance to serve Him as He desires. We will pray for the salvation of all souls, especially for those most in need of God’s mercy that are at risk of committing grave sins.

God wants sincere committed followers. Notice God’s promise requires that His people “turn from their wicked ways”.

So there you have the formula of what it takes to be a TRUE DISCIPLE:

HUMILITY

God is Great and we are NOT; We need His Grace and Guidance. We must trust in Jesus to help us to save our world from the forces of evil. God is more powerful that any evil on earth. We must call on His divine intervention to protect us and expel the diabolical forces causing people to commit violent atrocities.

PRAYER

Prayer must involve both listening to God and speaking to God. To hear God’s Voice speaking to our heart we must read His Word as spoken in the Holy Scriptures and we must learn His Holy Will which is to love, forgive and build a more just world.

SEEKING GOD’S FACE

Let us seek a relationship with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in every moment. Let us remember the Crucified Face of Our Lord and ask ourselves if Jesus can suffer and die for us, what are we willing to do for Him? God is not looking for casual disciples. Remember the Scripture when God tells us what He does with the lukewarm: “So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16)

TURNING AWAY FROM SIN (TRUE REPENTANCE)

Sin is wickedness to God and God calls us to turn from our wicked ways.

Let us confess our sins and trust in the Grace of Jesus Christ to keep us on a path of righteousness.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

All people need the forgiveness and healing of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. “In him (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Ephesians 1:7

One of the most compelling images of the type of relationship Jesus wants from us is the image of the vine and its branches.

Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.” John 15:5-6

Being a disciple of God is to be a branch attached to the source of Divine Grace, Jesus Christ.

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” John 1:17-18

Recall the Words of St. Paul: “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

If you love God and you love your fellow man then join a spiritual army of prayer warriors.

Join The Mercy Movement, a global Christian prayer movement that summons the omnipotence of God to change the world, one soul at a time. We unite as followers of Jesus (irrespective of denomination) every day @ the Time Jesus died for us, 3pm (in our local time zones). At this time we HUMBLE ourselves and we PRAY for all souls, that all souls may receive the Holy Spirit of God and seek a relationship with Jesus and turn away from sin.

We will STOP VIOLENCE BY SUMMONING THE POWER OF GOD AND FULFILLING THE EXPECTATIONS GOD HAS OF US. We will be humble, prayerful, loving, merciful and just connected to the Divine Vine, Jesus Christ. We will confess our sins and believe in the forgiveness and healing that comes from Jesus Christ ALONE!

May Our Beloved Saviour Jesus Christ give us courage, wisdom and strength to fight the power of evil in our world and expel the demons responsible for so much violence and death. Remember the Holy Spirit, God’s power of love is stronger than the power of evil that preys on the innocent! God will avenge all forms of evil and God will hear our prayers! Believe in Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour.
