Charity

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”  Proverbs 10:12

Charity, giving generously to others, is ‘Love in Action’.

Charity comes in many different forms.

When we give money to help those in need God smiles on our offering.

“Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.”  Proverbs 28:27

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.”  Proverbs 19:17

Charity must begin in our own homes.  When we give our time, our patience, our love to those around us we prove we are God’s children.

When we pray for our loved ones, God smiles on us and when we pray for those who have hurt us God smiles even more.

“Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.”  Luke 6:28

Jesus teaches us to “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  Matthew 22:37-39

So many of our neighbors around the world are suffering. They need our charity, our financial gifts, our time, our prayers, our love.

As a sign of your charity, please consider joining the global Christian prayer movement, A Peaceful Revolution in the Name of Jesus Christ.  This movement unites all believers of Christ in a daily moment of prayer and remembrance of the Passion of Christ, at the Time Jesus died for us, 3pm (in any time zone that is convenient for you to pray).

Let us unite to thank Jesus for His infinite love, for our gratitude to God for His infinite sacrifice honours Him and gives Him glory.  Let us believe in Our Lord’s infinite mercy for God loves us and wants to help us.

There are problems in our world that only God’s infinite power can address: violence, hatred, vengeance, war, abuse, murder, discrimination etc.  Let us, as charitable disciples of Christ, go to Jesus at the Time He died for us, 3pm, to pray for His love to be poured out upon our suffering world.  Let us pray for healing and new beginnings.

Remember the Words of Jesus: “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” Mark 10::27

Let our charity be generous and persistent and let it be full of faith and hope that God will answer our prayers.

Through our prayers we can bring souls back to God:  “Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”  James 5:20

Strengthen us Holy Lord to be charitable through our persistent prayers, through our continuous gifts to the poor, through our gifts of time and patience and love to all those around us who need us.
