Peace and Prosperity – Prayers Needed!

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” Words of Jesus, Matthew 5:43-44

Recently I read a BBC Report on our neighbours in Afghanistan that speaks about the tragedy of war.

The BBC Report states that “About 15 million people – half the population – are living in areas that are either controlled by the Taliban or where the Taliban are openly present and regularly mount attacks.”

“When I leave home, I’m uncertain whether I will come back alive,” said one man, Sardar, in Shindand, a western district that suffers weekly attacks. “Explosions, terror and the Taliban are part of our daily life.”

Karim Haidari, BBC Afghan, Kabul saysAs I leave the house I pause to look back at my family having breakfast. Will I make it back home today? Will this be the last time I see them? We all think like this in Kabul now.”

“People have no choice but to leave their homes, farms and orchards or stay and live with Taliban rule,” Mahgul, a teacher from a northern district in Kabul province, told the BBC.”

“My kids are not safe outside the family home so I don’t let them out,” said Pahlawan, a Kabul carpet seller with 13 children. “They are basically under house arrest. I have built them a school in my warehouse. Their world is walls and carpets. Although we are in Kabul, it’s like raising them in a jungle.”

The latest news is that the President of Afghanistan is trying to engage in peace talks with the Taliban after 16 years of war.   “Afghan President Ashraf Ghani offered recognition of the Taliban as a legitimate political group, as part of a proposed political process that could lead to peace talks aimed at ending more than 16 years of war.” Source: Reuters Feb 28, 2018

This peace process will fail if God does not assist it!

Can you love our neighbours in Afghanistan by praying for them?

Will you pray for the Holy Spirit of God to create peace?

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Remember the promise of God:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Who are the people of God?

Answer: The people of God are the people in our world that are loving one another just as God commands us to do.

Who is God?

Answer: God is love and Jesus is God.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” 1 John 4:16

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”1 John 4:8

The people of Afghanistan are in need of healing; please join me in praying for them!

And don’t stop there, please pray for all people in our world who live in war zones. God wants to end war and create peace and prosperity!

It is Satan’s will that people keep killing one another. Recall the Words of Jesus describing the people that belong to the devil: “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

Peace and prosperity requires that we first silence the forces of evil that perpetuate violence and terror in our world.

Please imagine the tender eyes of a child living in a war torn country like Afghanistan and open your heart to them.

God wants to help them…but God does not work alone.

Jesus taught us how to fight evil by calling upon His divine power and intervention: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44

Please pray for the Taliban! Pray for all terrorists, for all criminals, for all people of violence. Pray that the Holy Spirit may touch their hearts and convince them to STOP KILLING!

“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:10
