How to Prevent the Next Terror Attack

If you choose to read only one thing this week, let it be this. How many terrorist attacks will the world have to see before it begins to understand that there is a divine prescription we need to follow to prevent the next terror attack?

I stand with people all over the world that are united in prayer and solidarity with the victims in London that were hurt and killed in this week’s terrorist attack. I pray not only for the innocent people affected but also for their grieving families and friends and for soul of the man who caused this tragedy and for his family and friends. I invite you to join me in reflecting on the Word of God to inspire you to stand up and fight terror as a true Disciple of Jesus Christ.

Our global political leaders are already engaged in the fight against terror. We have seen how this fight is resulting in increased surveillance, advanced intelligence networks and reduced privacy as law enforcement strives to obtain data to thwart the next attack. The man responsible for this week’s attack on London was known to police and you know what else, he was also known to God. In fact God had the knowledge that this attack was going to happen. Who consulted Him?

This is what God promises us. READ CAREFULLY for this is a divine formula, a divine prescription to bring healing to our world currently living under a persistent threat of terror and violence.

God says “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

More and more countries are raising their terrorist alert levels. No one is truly safe and our global land will continue to be injured by the forces of evil until we turn with conviction to listen to the voice of God and do what God tells us to do.

Let’s reflect on the Scripture from the Book of Chronicles in a minute, but first let me show you a prophecy that we are seeing fulfilled in our time.

When Jesus was on earth He warned His apostles that a time was coming when people will be deceived into thinking that God was calling them to kill.

Jesus said, “…the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.”   John 17: 2-3

There are many people committing acts of terror that are deceived into believing that they are doing God’s will. Consider the suicide bomber. That person is giving up their life believing that God will reward them in the after life.

Now you may wonder ‘how can anyone be so deceived?’ Who is responsible for this great deception?

The answer is: Satan!

“This great dragon–the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world–was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.” Revelation 12:9

Satan is a murderer and a liar and to deceive people into killing in the very Name of God is the ultimate deception!

This is what God says to people who commit acts of violence:

“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

“God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’ Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world,” Luke 11:49-50

The reason people are being deceived is that they are possessed by the power of the devil. Satan wants terrorists to believe that they are called to ‘martyrdom’ and ‘divine vengeance’. Satan wants terrorists to believe that God is calling them to fight a ‘holy war’ that will result in a new world order where God will be honoured.

So how do we stop the next terror attack?

We have to stop Satan and his demons that possess people and we need to stop violent extremism and the radicalization of terrorists with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Let’s now carefully analyze what God is telling us to do:

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Who are the people of God?

Jesus made it clear that there is only ONE way to know if we are God’s. We MUST DO GOD’S WILL!

“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:50

God’s will is love, for “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” 1 John 4:16

“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:10

Called by God’s name:

God answers to more than one name. The Jews call God Yahweh. The Muslims call God Allah. We Christians call God Lord Jesus.

All people are called by God to love. If we embrace God’s call to love we are His people.

God calls us to be HUMBLE.

Humility entails that we see God as GREAT and human beings as dependent on God’s GRACE.

I like to think of humility in this figurative way.

Imagine yourself to be a precious chalice consecrated to God.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

Humility begins with thanksgiving acknowledging God as The Creator who made us.

Like the chalice, to serve God we must first be empty and clean.  We must empty ourselves of arrogance, impurity, lust, evil, all forms of sin in order to become fully available to serve God.  We must understand that our success depends on God’s grace.

Can you imagine a Chalice being used in a Mass that is dirty and full of bacteria?

No! First the Chalice must be empty and clean.

If we want God’s help with terror, violence, war, illness, corruption etc. then we must confess our sins and ask God to purify us.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Once we have humbled ourselves and have confessed our sinfulness and begun to pray we can count on God turning with love towards us.

God asks us to SEEK HIS FACE and what He is really saying is ‘SEEK AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH ME’.

We send impersonal text messages but when we have to discuss something really, really important what do we do?

We arrange a face-to-face meeting!

To be a true disciple of Jesus Christ means we must keep praying for God’s grace to live righteous lives. “The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” Isaiah 32:17

It’s time for the people of God to rise up, bowing our heads in humility, confessing our sins, praying for God’s forgiveness and for the grace to live in an intimate relationship with Him and WHEN WE DO THIS GOD PROMISES TO DO THIS:

“I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

The world invests in military prowess and nuclear arsenals, but we don’t defeat the devil with guns. We defeat the devil when we REPENT AND SEEK GOD’S GRACE.

Do you remember when St. Paul said, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

When we defeat the ‘spiritual forces of evil’ we stop violence, terrorist attacks, rapes, child abuse, human and drug trafficking, wars, abortions, sins of every sort.

God calls His disciples to be spiritual warriors and as we confess our sins and turn back to God we take the first steps in healing our souls, our lives, our communities and our land.

Healing begins with an understanding of illness. If you don’t know your sick, you don’t go to the doctor.

God is our doctor! God is our healer! God wants to transform our world and heal its divisions, eradicating the seeds of violence and diabolical deception. Jesus wants nothing short of a revolution!  The word ‘revolution’ comes from the latin word ‘revolvere’ which means to ‘turn around’. God wants there to be RADICAL CHANGE IN OUR WORLD – CREATED THROUGH A PROCESS OF PEACE NOT WAR, NOT VIOLENCE.

God wants each and every person on earth to become  ‘NEW’ and this transformation occurs as we embrace God’s TRUTH and God’s LOVE. “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3: 9-10

Do you know why political diplomacy won’t silence terror in our world?

Because demons can’t be talked down!

But the forces of darkness can be silenced through every act of kindness we do, through every act of forgiveness, through every act of repentance, through every act of thanksgiving, through our offering of our lives to God for His Glory and Honour.

On the night before Jesus died, He prayed to His Father, and our Father in heaven, that we (His believers and future believers) would be ONE.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21

There are too many divisions between Christians but there is one TRUTH that unites us all and that truth is that Jesus died to take away our sins, to make His precious dwellings pure!

So I am inviting you, in fact I am urging you to join the spiritual battle to end terror and violence and deception by doing this one thing: STOP everyday at the time Jesus died for us, 3pm (in your local time zone) and be part of an army of prayer warriors that is praying for the Holy Spirit to end deception and violence and terror and bring souls back to God. This is a historic campaign to UNITE ALL CHRISTIANS, all followers of Jesus into ONE BODY OF CHRIST that stops to remember how much Jesus suffered to offer us the gift of salvation.

God wants a ‘peaceful revolution’ on earth in the name of His Only Son Jesus Christ. A Peaceful Revolution in the Name of Jesus Christ will turn the world around through the power of God’s Holy Spirit, eradicating poverty, hunger, gender inequality, injustice, violence and terror, enabling lifelong learning and PEACE and PROSPERITY for all!

A ‘peaceful revolution’ occurs when the Holy Spirit enters the hearts of mankind. The Holy Spirit breathes the inspiration we need to accomplish all our goals. The Holy Spirit breathes truth and love enabling people to end wars and violence. The Holy Spirit enables us to make global commitments to help people suffering from wars and famines while increasing our global security.

The question is simple: Will you believe in God and in His Only Son Jesus Christ? Will you humble yourself? Will you pray to Him? Will you seek an intimate relationship with Jesus who died to save you? Will you turn away from sin?

And when we do these things…

God will hear from heaven and He will forgive our sins and He will heal our land!

NEVER FORGET THESE WORDS for they are the Words of Jesus:  “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:44-45
