Yesterday was a day of shock for many of us. A Catholic Church, Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, in France was attacked by two terrorists, reported to be only 18 and 19-years old. These two terrorists believed to be associated with ISIS brutally murdered a priest and seriously injured another member of the congregation before being killed by police.

Let us pray for the soul of Fr. Jacques Hamel; may Our Holy Lord grant you eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom. For the injured member of the congregation, may Jesus heal you and comfort you and your family. For the two men who committed this crime of hatred, I believe that our priest would want to forgive you and I pray that Our Holy Lord will have mercy on your souls.

For all believers who are grieving this attack, let us with faith and with trust in Jesus Christ commit to doing what God would want us to do. Remember the instructions of Our Lord are: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” Matthew 5:44

While Jesus was on earth, He warned His apostles that “a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God.” John 16:2

This time has come!

Ongoing acts of terror are becoming commonplace. It is possible that you might even become desensitized to this violence, but if you are truly a disciple of Jesus Christ, you must see all of this brutality as a ‘wake-up call’ that requires CRITICAL, URGENT, SPIRITUAL INTERVENTION.

A PEACEFUL REVOLUTION IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST is all about CRITICAL, URGENT, SPIRITUAL INTERVENTION. It is about confronting evil with love!

All Christian believers are called to understand that ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT, ONLY THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, CAN CONVINCE PEOPLE TO STOP KILLING IN THE NAME OF GOD.

What could be more offensive to God, than for terrorists to charge into sacred places, churches, forcing a minister of God on his knees and then to kill him in a holy sanctuary? WHAT HORROR!

We must do more than simply condemn these acts of violence!

We must do what Jesus would want us to do. We must turn to Him with trust, with faith and pray for His love to change the hearts of men and women deluded into believing they are called to kill!

In every generation, people have committed to violent revolutions to change the course of history, BUT Jesus Christ died to motivate a peaceful revolution. Jesus died to change our hearts, enabling us to embrace HIS LAW – LOVE!

Recall the promise of God, long before Jesus was born:

“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36: 25-26

This promise is fulfilled by Jesus Christ and by our Baptism in God’s Holy Spirit. And yet you may wonder with so many Baptized Christians in the world, why then is there still so much sin, violence and corruption?

The answer is:

Many people are not living in communion with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God; it is the Spirit of Truth; it is the Spirit of Love and it changes the hearts of the people who CHOOSE to live in that Spirit.

Love is a choice! We can embrace love, mercy and forgiveness or we can embrace hatred, vengeance and violence.

Let us turn back to God with humility, understanding that all of must take responsibility for making the world more peaceful, more loving, more charitable.

He who terrorizes and kills believing that they are ‘doing a service to God’ has been HORRIBLY DECEIVED by the spirit of evil. It is the spirit of Satan that motivates people to commit murder and it is the ultimate BLASPHEMY To Kill in the Name of God who wills for peace, reconciliation and love!

Jesus died for our salvation and to motivate a ‘peaceful revolution’. He died so that His Holy Sacrifice, His Holy Martyrdom, would cleanse us of our sins and enable us to live in an intimate relationship with Him, loving God and one another.

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” 1 John 4:20

Why is A Peaceful Revolution in the Name of Jesus Christ URGENT?

Because only God and the Holy Spirit of God can change the world, resolving the many global issues we are facing, e.g., war, persecution, violence, discrimination, corruption, poverty, inequality, social injustice etc.

God promised, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

OUR WORLD NEEDS HEALING!

OUR WORLD NEEDS THE INTERVENTION OF GOD, THE GRACE OF GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, TO HELP PEOPLE TO CONVERT AND BE PEOPLE OF GOD, PEOPLE OF PEACE AND LOVE, TURNING AWAY FROM SIN, EVIL AND VIOLENCE!

Let us pray,

Holy Lord Jesus,

We believe in You, we adore You, we hope in You and we love You so much. We pray for those that do not believe in You, do not adore You, do not hope in You, and do not love You!

We know that You have the answers to all the problems we are facing. We grieve the many, many forms of injustice in the world, especially the senseless violence and loss of innocent lives. We humble ourselves before You Jesus as we remember how much You suffered to save us. As I walk the Way to Calvary my heart breaks that You endured so much pain to redeem us and still You are waiting for Your people to come to You for forgiveness and restoration.

Holy One we will do what You ask. We will love our enemies and pray for those that persecute us. We come to You today with broken and contrite hearts praying for your grace upon the whole world. Please send Your Holy Spirit upon us as a healing balm for without You we can do nothing but despair, but with You all things are possible.

Change the world Holy One through the greatness of Your love. Change our hearts, change our minds, transform us by Your infinite mercy and compassion. We are unworthy and You are all worthy of being adored and loved. We will never forget how much You suffered to save us Lord and we will stand as one Body of Christian believers at the foot of Your Holy Cross each day at 3pm (in our local time zones).  Three o’clock is the Hour of Mercy; it is the time You died for us and we will be with You adoring You and thanking You and loving You with hope and thanksgiving, with reverence and honour, with an everlasting love as we pray for all souls.

Lord God You said, “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” Jeremiah 31:3

And we will love YOU Jesus with an everlasting love and with an unfailing love we will pray for the salvation of all souls, so that we can one day all be united in heaven as one family.

Let’s hold hands people of God and believe in the power of our united prayer as ONE Body of Christ.
